‘Part Four: Water’ is the fourth in a five-part series by The Every Conservatoire exploring the Pandora’s Box myth through music, clothing and the arts.

Etta Every, the in-house clothing label of The Every Conservatoire, will be presenting an installation on the night.

THE MAY PROJECT:
The May Project, a local Auckland act, play a stripped-back, dream-pop electronic set with lush, layered vocals and ambient melancholic undertones. They're due to release an EP early in the new year, and this is your chance to preview a couple of the new songs!

VANGUARD ONE:
Vanguard One meets somewhere at the crossroads of the ambient, techno and hip hop genres - the underground electronic mastery of Ben Bartlett. His sets are entrancing and he’s always pushing the envelopes of his sound, never settling or getting too comfortable in any particular sonic terrain. Featured on the likes of Sniffers and with an enigmatic live presence, Vanguard One is a must-see.

THE EVERY CONSERVATOIRE, ETTA EVERY AND THE MAY PROJECT:
Etta Every and The May Project are two strands of Aucklander Katie Brown’s creative vision. The one informs the other, and they interweave to depict a concept: Etta Every communicates it via fashion as a clothing brand, and The May Project band communicates it through music.

The Every Conservatoire is a new initiative where Katie is broadening and rounding out these multi-faceted concepts by inviting different artists, musicians and creatives on board to collaborate and bring each conceptual vision to life alongside what she is doing with Etta Every and The May Project. The focus for The Every Conservatoire is on live shows, supported by an online platform.

We're so excited to have local acts Night Pilot and Nick Dow joining us in support on the night!

Nick Dow:
Nick's music is rich in striking honesty and stirring emotion. His soaring voice recalls Jeff Buckley and James Blake, yet also evokes the spirit of jazz. His live performances reveal a unique and remarkable talent.

Night Pilot:
night pilot serenades the audience with her introspective stories and a voice that will melt your heart. Her brooding but beautiful folk-pop is a blend of Alvvays meet Sharon Van Etten and akin to two hidden gems we admire, Grace Joyner and DOE EYE.

The Every Conservatoire and Etta Every Present Part Two: Fire

The Every Conservatoire and Etta Every Present Part Two: Fire

‘Part Two: Fire’ is the second in a five-part series exploring the Pandora’s Box myth through music, clothing and the arts.

This time around, music and fashion are the focus, and we’re excited to have three great local acts on board alongside The Every Conservatoire’s in-house band The May Project: Narentines, the new act of seasoned Auckland musicians Ben King, Milan Borich and Francis Hunt, Kip McGrath, a local indie-pop band on the rise, and Guantanamo Babes, a "cyber punk dance core" newly-formed three-piece consisting of Levi Wenzlick, Ben Bartlett of Vanguard One, and Luke Oram.

Etta Every, the in-house clothing label of The Every Conservatoire, will be staging a fashion show during the night featuring their latest capsule collection.

The May Project and Friends

The Every Conservatoire and The May Project Present Part One: Air / Aer / ἀήρ

The Every Conservatoire is a new initiative, centred around the collaboration of a group of artists telling stories together. The May Project is its in-house band, and Etta Every the in-house clothing label.

This is the first show in a series of five concept shows. Each show will tell a different part of the whole story, a little like acts in a play. Different creatives will be involved with each event, expressing their interpretation of the story. Naturally, the music will drive the whole, but you can expect to see costume and clothing by Etta Every, beautiful imagery, collections of words and more.

For Part One, we are delighted to have Dietrich Soakai, an excellent spoken word poet and part of the South Auckland Poets Collective, on board, along with newly-formed duo Althea Faye. The May Project will be performing as a stripped-back band this time, and we can't wait to play our new material for you and get you caught up in this story as it all kicks off!

Doors open at 8pm, and the performance will start at 8:30pm, so make sure you're in on time to catch it as a whole!

The May Project x Etta Every

Come along to The May Project's debut show as a band, doubling as the unofficial launch of Etta Every's latest capsule collection of foundation pieces (including menswear!). We're joined by local act Vanguard One, both helping us out in the band for the night and teasing your ears with his own set.

The May Project writes music to provide the soundtrack to the concept Etta Every is designed to - three dimensional storytelling. This particular night is the prologue to a full concept release between the two creative disciplines set to take place early next year. We'll be playing some new songs, some old songs, and a couple of covers, because we love them.
